Ugadi marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year in many South Indian traditions. It signifies renewal, hope, and the start of the Chaitra month. At our temple, families gather to taste Ugadi Pachadi (Ugadhi Pachadi / Ugadi Pacchadi) — a traditional preparation symbolizing the six flavors of life: joy, sorrow, anger, fear, disgust, and surprise. This ritual reminds us to embrace all experiences with faith and balance.
Ram Navami 2026 falls on Thursday, March 26, 2026. At the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, the spiritual celebrations begin earlier with Ugadi and Gudi Padwa on March 19th, followed by a special Sri Venkateswara Abhishekam on March 21st, preparing devotees for the grand Sri Ram Navami celebration.
Sri Rama Navami (also spelled Ram Nawami, Ram Nomi, Ram Nami, or Ram Navmi) marks the divine appearance day of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The significance of Ram Navami lies in remembering Lord Rama’s virtues — righteousness (dharma), courage, compassion, and devotion to truth. Devotees observe fasting, perform Ram Navami puja, chant the Ramcharitmanas, and participate in temple celebrations to receive divine blessings.
Participants must follow these rules:* Only Tyagaraja Kritis are permitted
* Maximum performance duration: 7 minutes
* Pancharatna Kritis are not allowed for solo performances
* Raga Alapana, Kalpana Swarams, and Niraval are not permitted
Gudi Padwa, also spelled Gudhi Padwa, is the Maharashtrian New Year and coincides with Ugadi. Devotees raise a sacred “Gudi” flag outside their homes as a symbol of victory and auspicious beginnings. At the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, we celebrate Gudi Padwa with devotional chanting, cultural programs, and special archana to Lord Venkateswara.
Yes! After our Ugadi and Venkateswara Swamy celebrations on March 19–21, the temple will host a dedicated Ram Navami celebration on March 26, 2026. The event will include Ram Navami puja, devotional kirtans, and community participation in honoring Lord Rama.
Sri Venkateswara Abhishekam is a sacred bathing ceremony offered to Lord Venkateswara (Tirupati Balaji) with milk, yogurt, honey, sandalwood, and holy water while Vedic mantras are chanted. This ritual mirrors the traditions of the Tirupati Balaji Temple in South India, allowing devotees in Dallas to experience the grandeur of a Tirupati Balaji Temple India celebration locally.
Sri Venkateswara Sahasra Pushparchana is a devotional offering of a thousand sacred flowers while chanting the thousand names of Sri Venkateshwara. It is performed for prosperity, peace, and family well-being.
