Dhanurmas Pooja

(Mon - Fri at 6 am - 7:20 am CST and Weekend & Holidays - 8 am - 9:30 am CST)

During the Margsheersh month from Dec 16th to Jan 14th, we will be performing everyday pooja in the morning. Temple darshan open daily weekday between 6 am to 7:20 am CST,  and on weekend and holidays from 8 am to  9:30 am.

On this special devotional month, the devotees get to wake up Lord Krishna in the serene early hours of the day by singing the 30 pasuras of Thiruppavai, offer bhog/naivedya, perform the puja and aarti to Lord Krishna and Goda devi.

Dhanurmasa / Marghasirsha / Margazhli is a favorite month for Sri Krishna. He himself has described this in Bhagavad Gita. This month has great spiritual significance which starts with Margashirsha shukla ekadasi (the eleventh day in the bright half of the lunar month of Margashira) and extends up to the end of dakshinayana.  

बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् |

bṛihat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chhandasām aham
māsānāṁ mārga-śhīrṣho ’ham ṛitūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ

BG 10.35: Amongst the hymns in the Sāma Veda know me to be the Brihatsama; amongst poetic meters I am the Gayatri. Of the twelve months of the Hindu calendar I am Margsheersh, and of seasons I am spring, which brings forth flowers.

Join the special Shri Godadevi & Shri Krishna Kalyanam celebration on Sunday, January 15th, 2023.

From the 30 melodious songs called Tiruppavai, sung by Goda Devi (Shri Andaal), we will sing one song each day in the glory of Sri Krishna. At the end of the 30 days on Bhogi day, we will conclude the puja by performing Shri Goda Krishna Kalyanam (Divine Wedding of Shri Krishna and Shri Goda) at 4:00 PM CST (Next Day 3:30 AM IST).

Dhanurmaas Pooja is an auspicious worship of Lord Krishna during the Margasheersh month.

Dhanurmas is considered the favorite month of Lord Krishna, This month is considered to have great spiritual significance which starts with Margasheersh shukla ekadasi (the eleventh day in the bright half of the lunar month of Margashira) and extends up to the end of dakshinayana.

  • The Temple will be open in the morning for Pooja & Darshan from 6:00 AM - 7:20 AM.
