ये यथा मां प्रपद्यन्ते तांस्तथैव भजाम्यहम् । मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्या: पार्थ सर्वश: ॥ 11॥ ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāns tathaiva bhajāmyaham mama vartmānuvartante manuṣhyāḥ pārtha sarvaśhaḥ
In whatever way people surrender unto Me, I reciprocate accordingly. Everyone follows My path, knowingly or unknowingly, O son of Pritha (Bhagavad Gita 4.11).

What would change if Shree Krishna became the quiet center of our everyday lives?
Spirituality is not confined to our time in prayer or meditation. It can shape how we think, respond, work, love, and face the unexpected moments of each day. When we consciously turn our attention toward Shree Krishna, even ordinary experiences can acquire a deeper meaning. Our hearts can become more receptive to His presence, allowing each day to bring us one step closer to Him.
This month, we reflect on the joy of drawing closer to Shree Krishna and recognizing His presence in our daily lives. Whether you are an adult, youth, or child, may these reflections inspire you to nurture that divine connection in both special moments and the ordinary experiences of daily life.
Bhakti Ras
Living Every Moment with Shree Krishna
Bhakti begins with an invitation to God to reside in the sacred space of our hearts.
We may worship Shree Krishna, sing His names, listen to His divine pastimes, read the Bhagavad Gita, and visit the temple. Yet the deepest expression of devotion is something more intimate: inviting Shree Krishna into the ordinary moments of our lives. It is allowing Him to become not merely the Lord we worship, but the Divine Beloved with whom we share our joys, struggles, decisions, and aspirations. Shree Krishna does not need an elaborate invitation. He asks for the sincerity of our heart.
From Worshipping to Living with Shree Krishna
It is easy to remember God when we are in the temple or engaged in our daily sadhana. The greater challenge is to remember Him while answering emails, preparing meals, caring for our families, facing difficulties, or making important decisions.
Bhakti transforms when we begin to think, “Shree Krishna is with me.” Before beginning our work, we can offer it to Him. When something wonderful happens, we can thank Him. When we are anxious, we can turn to Him. When we make a mistake, instead of becoming consumed by guilt, we can seek His guidance and resolve to improve. Even the simplest activities can become opportunities for remembrance.

As the Lord Himself beautifully explained to Arjun regarding this spirit of offering:
यत्करोषि यदश्नासि यज्जुहोषि ददासि यत् । यत्तपस्यसि कौन्तेय तत्कुरुष्व मदर्पणम् ॥ 27॥ yat karoṣhi yad aśhnāsi yaj juhoṣhi dadāsi yat yat tapasyasi kaunteya tat kuruṣhva mad-arpaṇam
Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer as oblation to the sacred fire, whatever you bestow as a gift, and whatever austerities you perform, O son of Kunti, do them as an offering to Me (Bhagavad Gita 9.27).
This teaching changes the way we perceive our daily lives. We do not need to abandon our responsibilities to become spiritual. We can spiritualize our responsibilities by changing our consciousness while performing them. This is the science of Karm Yog. When our work becomes an offering, our home becomes a place of devotion, our relationships become opportunities to practice love and patience, and our daily lives become part of our spiritual journey.
Making Room for Shree Krishna
An invitation is meaningful only when we make room for the guest. If our minds are constantly filled with thoughts, worries, ambitions, preferences, and distractions, we may say that Shree Krishna is the most important part of our lives, but our attention can remain occupied by everything else. Inviting Shree Krishna into our lives, therefore, means creating sacred spaces for remembrance. How?
Engage in a few minutes of chanting His name in the morning. Recite a verse from the Bhagavad Gita to enable you to contemplate during the day. Express your gratitude before a meal and a prayer before making a difficult decision. Listen to a Krishna kirtan while doing mundane tasks, and remember Him before going to sleep.
Shree Krishna beautifully reminds us:
तस्मात्सर्वेषु कालेषु मामनुस्मर युध्य च । मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्मामेवैष्यस्यसंशयम् ॥ 7॥ tasmāt sarveṣhu kāleṣhu mām anusmara yudhya cha mayyarpita-mano-buddhir mām evaiṣhyasyasanśhayam
Therefore, always remember Me and also do your duty of fighting the war. With mind and intellect surrendered to Me, you will definitely attain Me; of this, there is no doubt (Bhagavad Gita 8.7).
Shree Krishna does not ask us to withdraw from life to remember Him. He asks us to remember Him while living our life and performing our duties. Every ordinary moment can therefore become an opportunity for divine remembrance.

These practices may appear small, but devotion grows through such repeated acts of remembrance. Gradually, the relationship becomes more natural. We begin to turn toward Shree Krishna not only during prayer, but throughout the day. The heart learns to seek His presence.
Let Shree Krishna into Every Part of Life
Sometimes we unconsciously divide our lives into “spiritual” and “ordinary” parts. We may offer our prayers to Shree Krishna but keep our worries to ourselves. We may offer our worship to Him but hesitate to surrender our plans. We may seek Him in moments of joy yet forget Him when life becomes difficult. True bhakti invites Shree Krishna into all of it.
- Invite Him into your successes, so that achievement does not become a source of pride.
- Invite Him into your difficulties, so that challenges become opportunities to deepen faith.
- Invite Him into your relationships, so that love becomes selfless rather than possessive.
- Invite Him into your decisions, so that your choices are guided not only by what you want, but by what is right and spiritually uplifting.
- Invite Him into your fears, so that the heart learns to trust.
- And invite Him into your moments of weakness, because devotion does not require us to approach God only after we have become perfect. We approach Him precisely because we need His grace.
When we sincerely invite Shree Krishna into our lives, He gradually changes the way we experience life. The external circumstances may not immediately change. Responsibilities remain. Challenges arise. People may behave in unexpected ways. Yet something within us begins to change. We become less dependent on circumstances for our happiness and more anchored in divine remembrance.
Perhaps this is the most beautiful invitation we can extend:
“O Shree Krishna, come into my life. Be present in my thoughts, my words, my actions, my relationships, and my choices. Help me remember You, serve You, and see everything I have as Your gift.”
And when we repeatedly make that invitation with sincerity, our spiritual practice becomes more than a routine. It becomes a relationship. The Lord whom we once sought only in prayer begins to accompany us through every moment of the day. The temple is no longer the only place where we meet Him. Our life itself becomes an offering, and our heart becomes His home.

The Grandfather’s Treasure
An elderly grandfather was boarding a metro train when his wallet slipped from his hand and fell onto the railway track. He became very worried and began calling for help. Seeing his distress, a young man bravely jumped onto the track, retrieved the wallet, and returned it to him. When the grandfather opened it, the young man noticed that there was no money inside. Curious, he asked why the grandfather had been so worried about a wallet that appeared to be empty.

The grandfather then showed him a picture of Shree Krishna inside. He explained that he had received the wallet as a birthday gift from his father when he was eight years old, with Shree Krishna’s picture already inside. At that time, his father was the person he loved most, so he placed his father’s picture over the picture of Shree Krishna. As he grew older, a girl entered his life and became the most important person to him, so he replaced his father’s picture with hers.
They separated years later, and after he married, he placed a picture of his wife in the wallet. When his wife passed away, his son became the person closest to his heart, so he replaced his wife’s picture with his son’s. Time passed, and his son eventually married and built a life of his own. The grandfather later moved to an old-age home, realizing that everyone had their own path to follow. He removed his son’s picture, and once again, only the picture of Shree Krishna remained.

Practical Wisdom:
- The picture inside the wallet kept changing as different people became important to the grandfather. Worldly relationships naturally change throughout our lives, but our relationship with Shree Krishna is eternal. Rather than becoming overly attached to temporary relationships and circumstances, we can strengthen our connection with Shree Krishna and make Him the enduring center of our lives.
- The grandfather ultimately found himself with only Shree Krishna’s picture remaining in his wallet. Yet we do not need to wait until other people or circumstances change before turning toward Him. Shree Krishna gives each of us the freedom to choose Him and invite Him into our lives now. Through devotion and constant remembrance, we can deepen our relationship with Him and gradually purify the mind and heart.

Krishna in the Everyday
When we think about connecting with Krishna, we might picture going to the temple, doing puja, chanting, or meditating. While these are beautiful ways to grow spiritually, inviting Krishna into our lives does not have to be limited to a particular place or time. Krishna can become part of our everyday moments—while studying for a test, spending time with friends, making decisions, or dealing with something that did not go as planned.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna teaches us to remember Him while continuing to perform our duties. This is especially meaningful for young people. We do not have to choose between our everyday responsibilities and our spiritual growth. Instead, spirituality can transform how we approach those responsibilities.
One simple way to invite Krishna into our lives is by remembering Him before starting something important. Before an exam, for example, instead of thinking only, I need to get a good grade, we can remind ourselves, I have prepared sincerely. Let me use the abilities Bhagwan has given me and do my best. This small shift can turn an ordinary task into an act of devotion.
This perspective can also change how we view success. As students, it is easy to measure ourselves by grades, awards, college admissions, or extracurricular achievements. Krishna's teachings remind us to work hard without becoming overly attached to the outcome. This does not mean that we stop caring about our goals. We should still strive for excellence, but after giving our best effort, we can learn to place the final result in Bhagwan's hands.

We can also invite Krishna into our relationships. Before arguing, gossiping, or sending an angry message, we can pause and ask ourselves: Would I act this way if I remembered that Krishna was with me right now? Even a few seconds of remembrance can help us respond with greater patience and kindness.
Another simple practice is gratitude. We often remember Bhagwan when we need something, but how often do we remember Him when everything is going well? Taking a moment to thank Krishna for our family, friends, opportunities, or simply a good day helps us recognize the many blessings already present in our lives.
Practice Opportunity: For the next seven days, try connecting one everyday activity with Krishna. Remember Him before studying, listen to kirtan on the way to school, say a short prayer before an important decision, or thank Him before going to sleep.
Small moments of remembrance can gradually transform ordinary parts of our day into opportunities to grow closer to Krishna.
Holistic Health Tidbits
Wellness as an Offering to Krishna
How can we make health and fitness a form of devotion rather than simply a pursuit of appearance or performance? In the Bhagavad Gita, Shree Krishna emphasizes discipline, moderation, and steadiness of mind:
नात्यश्नतस्तु योगोऽस्ति न चैकान्तमनश्नत: । न चाति स्वप्नशीलस्य जाग्रतो नैव चार्जुन ॥ 16॥ युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु । युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दु:खहा ॥ 17॥ nātyaśhnatastu yogo ’sti na chaikāntam anaśhnataḥ na chāti-svapna-śhīlasya jāgrato naiva chārjuna yuktāhāra-vihārasya yukta-cheṣhṭasya karmasu yukta-svapnāvabodhasya yogo bhavati duḥkha-hā
O Arjun, those who eat too much or too little, sleep too much or too little, cannot attain success in Yog. But those who are temperate in eating and recreation, balanced in work, and regulated in sleep, can mitigate all sorrows by practicing Yog (Bhagavad Gita 6.16 and 6.17).
These teachings offer a beautiful framework for inviting Shree Krishna into the way we care for our physical and mental well-being.
1. Begin the Day with Krishna
- Before checking the phone or preparing for the day, spend a few minutes in prayer, meditation, or chanting.
- We might pray: “Shree Krishna, please guide my thoughts, choices, and actions today. Help me care for this body with discipline and gratitude.”
- Beginning the morning with remembrance can help orient both the mind and our daily choices toward a higher purpose.
2. Treat Food as an Offering
- Instead of approaching food primarily through restriction or dieting, we can think: “I want to nourish this body so I can serve, live, and grow.”
- Before eating, pause to offer the food to Shree Krishna with gratitude. Then eat mindfully and moderately, choosing nourishing foods that support the body's needs. In this way, eating can become not merely an act of consumption, but an expression of gratitude and care.
3. Make Exercise Seva
- Exercise does not have to become an obsession with appearance or performance. Instead, we can remind ourselves: “This body is a gift. I will care for it so I can use it well.”
- Walking, yoga, strength training, swimming, cycling, or other forms of movement can become part of a balanced daily discipline. When we care for the body with the intention of using it in service to God and others, physical activity can take on a deeper meaning.
4. Train the Mind Along with the Body
- Physical wellness and mental well-being are deeply connected. Alongside movement and exercise, practices such as meditation, chanting, adequate sleep, and moments of quiet reflection can help cultivate greater balance.
- The goal is not perfection. Consistency with awareness is more valuable than extreme routines.
5. Let Krishna's Teachings Guide Our Habits
- The principle of moderation described in the Bhagavad Gita provides a powerful framework for holistic wellness. Shree Krishna encourages balance in eating, recreation, work, sleep, and wakefulness.

- We can therefore approach wellness through a simple progression: Remember Krishna → Eat mindfully → Move regularly → Work sincerely → Rest adequately
- When Shree Krishna becomes part of these ordinary choices, caring for our health can become more than another task on our schedule. It can become an expression of gratitude for the body and mind we have been given, and an opportunity to invite Him more deeply into our everyday lives.
