Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated to honor the birth anniversary of Maharshi Parshuram, who is considered to be the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. His incarnation led to protect the earth by exterminating sinful, destructive and irreligious monarchs that looted resources and neglected the duties of the kings.
Parshuram was born to sage Jamadagni and Renuka. He is an expert warrior and the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva. After ardent worship and watching the devotion of Parshuram, Lord Shiva gifted him a war weapon named Parshu, which means an axe. The weapon is a war weapon that was used by Parshuram against Kshatriyas' cruelty. The Parshuram Jayanti occurs on Shukla Paksha, Tritiya tithi of Vaishaka month.
