There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." - Albert Einstein
From the Editor's Desk
While some complain about the thorny rose bushes, others rejoice
and praise God that thorns have roses. You must have heard the old adage, "Your attitude determines your altitude." Attitude is one of the most important factors that leads to joy and fulfillment, as it governs our perception.

However, how do we go about establishing a more positive attitude as a daily habit? It is simple; we just need to take a daily dose of vitamin G!

Want to learn more about this vitamin? Then read on....

Your Attitude Determines Your Happiness

Happiness is a choice; we are as happy as we choose to be. If we don't know how to be happy with what we have, we will never be happy with more. It's a myth that having more of anything will make us happier. So, how do we choose to be happy then? Through the potential of the mind, instructs our beloved Lord, Shree Krishna:
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् |
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मन: ||
uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet |
ātmaiva hyātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ ||
(Bhagavad Gita 6.5)
"Elevate yourself through the power of your mind, and not degrade yourself, for the mind can be the friend and also the enemy of the self."

Only we can change our attitude, no one can do it for us. Trials and tribulations come alike to all humankind, we all have our burdens. What counts is how we carry those. Two prisoners look out the same prison bars; while one sees dirt, the other sees stars.

Therefore, take a pause and reflect on your life deeply. Take stock of your life - a healthy body and mind, the infinite divine knowledge available, the free will, the intellect that guards and elevates the thoughts, a Guru/spiritual preceptor that dispels the darkness of ignorance, supportive family and friends, fulfilling career, etc. Do you see how your life is full of blessings that you hardly notice? Have you counted all these blessings and many more that God has bestowed upon you?
Everything we are and have been are sheer gifts of God. Are you grateful for all these blessings in your life? Do you celebrate and express your gratitude every day for what you have received? In other words, do you take a daily dose of vitamin G? If you do so, you naturally attract happiness says, H. H. Swami Mukundananda ji in his video message below. He gives us a quick insight into how to change our attitude to feel gratitude. The daily dose of vitamin G changes for ever how we experience life and the world.

Wellness for Life
Daily Dietary Check

Good health is essential for numerous reasons but the most important of all is that a healthy body and mind allow a person to nurture the spiritual health of the soul. We need to ensure that we maintain a healthy body, mind and soul in order to serve the Lord because we are His servants and this is the only purpose of our life.

These check points will help us to keep track of our daily diet:

Food ingredients:
  • Consume 1 lemon daily either in the early morning with warm water or squeeze the juice over salads.
  • Take 2 servings of fresh seasonal fruit (i.e., one moderate sized fruit)
  • Take a handful of sprouts.
  • Have a fistful of nuts and dry fruits.
  • Take 4 servings of fresh vegetables either cooked or in a salad.
  • A bowl of yoghurt or buttermilk with your meal.
  • Vary your choice of cereals to include whole wheat, oats, barley, quinoa, millets, spelt and rye throughout the week.
  • Have at one bowl of dal or lentils daily to ensure protein intake especially if you are a vegetarian.
  • Vegetarians should eat flaxseed or alsi to ensure intake of the Omega 3 Fatty Acid.
Food Habits:
  • Drink water at the right time.
  • Avoid cold drinks and iced preparations with meals.
  • Try to convince your mind to relax before eating to enhance the digestive process and be conscious of what you eat.
  • Avoid overeating by getting off the table before you get to the point of total satiation.
  • Rest a while after lunch instead of diving into tasks that require physical or mental exertion.
  • Take a comfortable short stroll after dinner to enhance the digestive process.
