The LEAP program (Learn- Engage - Advance- Perform) is a goal oriented program on instruction in Carnatic music that is focused on developing musical skills steadily and systematically within the framework of classicism and grammar. The program will maintain balance among bhavam, bhakti, ragam, talam and sahityam in developing the musical acumen of the students. The program emphasizes mutual appreciation rather than competition among students to build their competence.
Classes begin on May 30, 2020.
The classes will be taught by Dr. Vijaykumar Krishnan who is a music teacher, musician and researcher with a traditional musical lineage steeped in classicism. He has performed in hundreds of concerts, both solo and accompaniment on the violin, including those at Music Academy Madras, All India Radio mini national program and Doordarshan.
